Why does breastfeeding representation matter?

Imagine growing up in a world that only shared the motherhood journey in one way?

Now imagine trying to navigate breastfeeding on top of that?

Now imagine being a plus size or woman of color on top of that?

I knew when I started this business that I wanted to look more deeply at the things that impact our breastfeeding journeys. One thing that was painfully obvious to me was the lack of size and race representation. How much does that impact our journey and are we ready to step up for the mothers who need their voices to be heard? If we're truly going to create change, are we willing to take bold steps to make it so?

There was only one way to find out. I put out a call for women of color to join us for a photo shoot in Houston. The response was immediate and overwhelming because I didn't expect responses like this.

Oof. This hit me like a ton of bricks. What does that mean for so many other moms?

The corona virus has forced our little startup to pause but it's only temporary because these images and these experiences and this type of support is what the world needs. To help increase the number of mothers who breastfeed and help them to navigate their journey, we have A LOT of work to do.

These are a few of the images we captured and I am so so so proud of what we accomplished. My breastfeeding journey is almost over after 3 children but starting a company that will help support millions of moms to go through their own journey on their own terms is my new baby.

Thank you to all who continue to support my journey! What do you think of these pics y'all!?!

Let us continue to be bold is our purpose and unwavering in our resolve to truly support one another.
